This rich and easy 15-minute chocolate fondue recipe combines dark chocolate with heavy cream and vanilla extract to create a smooth, luscious dip perfect for fruits, marshmallows, or cakes. Ideal for entertaining, this fondue is prepared on the stovetop and can be kept warm for continuous dipping pleasure.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Fondue

  • 0.5 cup heavy cream
  • 4 ounces Lindt Excellence 70% Cocoa Dark Chocolate, chopped (approximately 12 squares)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract (or brandy as an alternative)

Instructions

  1. Heat the Cream: Pour the heavy cream into a fondue pot or a small saucepan and place it on the stovetop. Heat over medium heat until it begins to simmer gently, with small bubbles appearing around the edges.
  2. Incorporate the Chocolate: Reduce the heat to medium-low and slowly stir in the chopped dark chocolate. Use a hand whisk or a heat-resistant rubber spatula to mix continuously until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  3. Add Flavoring: Once the chocolate has melted completely, stir in the vanilla extract (or brandy) to infuse the fondue with its rich aroma.
  4. Serve and Keep Warm: Lower the heat to the very lowest setting to keep the fondue warm without burning. Serve immediately with your favorite dippers such as fruits, marshmallows, or cake cubes. If not using a fondue pot, place the saucepan on a trivet or hot plate on the lowest setting to maintain warmth. Exercise caution as the pot, plate, or pan will be hot.

Notes

  • Use high-quality dark chocolate for the best flavor and smooth texture.
  • Alternative flavoring options include brandy, rum, or coffee extract.
  • Keep stirring gently if reheating to avoid grainy texture.
  • Choose dippers such as strawberries, banana slices, pretzels, or pound cake for variety.
  • The fondue can be gently reheated if it begins to thicken or harden.
