Ingredients
Ingredients
- 2 large ripe bananas (if bananas are small or medium, use 2.5 bananas)
- 1.5 cups old fashioned oatmeal (gluten free if needed)
- 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a cookie sheet or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Mash Bananas: Peel the ripe bananas and place them in a medium mixing bowl. Use a fork to mash the bananas until the mixture is mostly smooth with a few small lumps remaining. This will take a couple of minutes.
- Mix Ingredients: Add the old fashioned oatmeal and semi-sweet chocolate chips to the mashed banana mixture. Stir everything until well combined.
- Form Cookies: Drop the cookie dough by rounded tablespoons or use a cookie scoop onto the prepared cookie sheet, spacing them evenly.
- Bake: Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 9-10 minutes. They should be lightly golden and set.
- Cool and Serve: Immediately remove the cookies from the pan to a cooling rack to prevent sogginess. Allow them to cool slightly before enjoying.
Notes
- Use very ripe bananas for best natural sweetness and texture.
- Oats should be old fashioned, not quick oats, for better structure.
- The cookies are best eaten the day they are baked but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free chocolate chips.
- You can add chopped nuts or dried fruit to customize the cookies.
