Ingredients
Scallops
- 8 large scallops
- Salt, to taste
- Cracked black pepper, to taste
For Cooking
- Cooking spray
- Lemon wedges, to serve
Instructions
- Prepare Scallops: Clean the scallops thoroughly, removing the roe if you prefer. Pat them very dry using kitchen paper towels to ensure they sear properly. Season both sides with salt and cracked black pepper, adjusting to your taste.
- Preheat and Prepare Air Fryer: Spray the air fryer basket lightly with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Arrange the scallops in a single layer, leaving at least an inch space between each to allow even air circulation and cooking.
- Cook Scallops: Set the air fryer to 400°F and cook the scallops for 6 minutes without flipping them. Check that the internal temperature reaches 120°F to ensure they are perfectly cooked. If your scallops are smaller, reduce the cooking time by about 1 minute. Note that the scallops may not develop much color in the air fryer.
- Serve: Remove the scallops immediately once done and finish with a fresh spritz of lemon juice. Serve right away to enjoy their tender texture and bright flavor.
Notes
- Patting the scallops dry is crucial for even cooking and to prevent steaming.
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure scallops cook evenly.
- If unsure about doneness, use an instant-read thermometer to check for 120°F internal temperature.
- Adjust seasoning after cooking if desired, but lemon enhances the flavor beautifully.
