Ingredients
Fish Sticks
- 1/3 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 cup seasoned panko breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
- 4 large tilapia filets, cut into strips
- Olive oil cooking spray
Dipping Sauce
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 tablespoons dill pickle relish
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C) and spray a cookie sheet with olive oil cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a shallow dish, combine the all purpose flour, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to create the flour mixture.
- Whisk Eggs: In a separate shallow dish, whisk the two eggs until fully blended for the egg wash.
- Prepare Parmesan Breadcrumb Coating: In a third shallow dish, mix together the grated parmesan cheese, seasoned panko breadcrumbs, and dried parsley flakes thoroughly.
- Cut Tilapia: Cut the tilapia filets into strips or nugget-sized pieces, suitable for fish sticks.
- Coat Fish Strips: Dredge each fish strip first in the flour mixture, then dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat thoroughly with the parmesan-panko mixture. Ensure each piece is fully coated.
- Arrange and Bake: Place the coated fish sticks evenly on the prepared baking sheet. Bake them in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the fish reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) and the coating is golden and crispy.
- Make Dipping Sauce: While the fish sticks bake, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, Dijon mustard, ketchup, and dill pickle relish in a bowl. Mix well to create a creamy and tangy dipping sauce.
- Serve: Serve the hot baked Parmesan fish sticks with the prepared dipping sauce on the side for dipping enjoyment.
Notes
- Air Fryer Option: To cook using an air fryer, spray the coated fish sticks with cooking spray and air fry at 400°F for 8 minutes. Flip, spray again, and air fry for an additional 4 minutes until crispy and cooked through.
- Storage: Store leftover fish sticks in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer for best texture.
