Ingredients
Meat and Vegetables
- 6 bacon strips, chopped (not thick cut)
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
Egg Mixture
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Cheese
- 2 cups grated Swiss cheese (freshly grated)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9-inch deep pie dish or a similar-sized baking dish (approximately 1 quart).
- Cook Bacon: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy, about 8-10 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate, leaving about one tablespoon of bacon grease in the skillet.
- Sauté Onions: Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the remaining bacon grease and cook until softened, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Mix Egg Base: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, garlic powder, kosher salt, and black pepper until smooth and fully combined.
- Combine Ingredients: Stir in the grated Swiss cheese, cooked bacon, and sautéed onions into the egg mixture evenly.
- Fill Baking Dish: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, gently swirling or stirring to distribute ingredients evenly.
- Bake Quiche: Bake on the center rack of the oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the center is set. Check starting at 30 minutes to avoid over-browning. If edges brown too quickly, loosely cover the dish with foil. Test doneness by inserting a thin knife into the center; it should come out clean without liquid.
- Cool and Serve: Let the quiche cool for a few minutes before slicing into wedges. Serve warm or at room temperature and enjoy.
Notes
- Use freshly grated Swiss cheese for the best melt and texture.

- You can substitute bacon with cooked ham or sausage if preferred.
