Ingredients
Syrup Ingredients
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup water (divided)
Strawberry Lemonade Ingredients
- 4 cups water (divided)
- 2 cups heaping fresh strawberries (hulled)
- 1 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice
- Ice
- Lemon and strawberry slices (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Make the Simple Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine 3/4 cup water and granulated sugar. Heat over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar is completely dissolved. Avoid boiling. Remove from heat, let it stand for 10 minutes, then transfer the syrup to a jar or bottle and refrigerate until completely cooled.
- Puree the Strawberries: In a blender, combine the fresh hulled strawberries with the remaining 3 1/4 cups water. Blend until smooth. Strain the strawberry puree through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl or pitcher, discarding the solids to ensure a smooth lemonade.
- Combine the Lemonade: Fill a large pitcher with ice. Add the fresh lemon juice, strawberry liquid, and 1/2 cup of the prepared simple syrup. Stir well until combined. Taste the lemonade and adjust sweetness by adding more simple syrup or additional water if desired.
- Serve: Pour the strawberry lemonade into glasses over ice. Garnish with lemon and strawberry slices if you like. Keep any leftover lemonade refrigerated in a covered container for up to 3 days.
Notes
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less simple syrup according to your preference.
- Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best flavor.
- Straining the strawberry puree ensures a smooth texture without pulp or seeds.
- This lemonade can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For a fizzy version, substitute some or all of the water with sparkling water just before serving.
