Ingredients
Slider Buns and Toppings
- 12 slider buns (Hawaiian rolls or other slider buns)
- 2 cups shredded lettuce
- 9 slices American cheese
- 24-30 dill pickle slices
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
Slider Mixture
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup finely chopped white onion
Big Mac Sauce
- 2/3 cup mayonnaise
- 2 1/2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 1/2 tablespoons yellow mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish or sheet pan with nonstick spray to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Make the Big Mac Sauce: In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, sugar, yellow mustard, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly until smooth and set aside to let the flavors meld.
- Cook the Beef Mixture: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the lean ground beef with finely chopped onions, salt, and black pepper. Stir occasionally and cook until the beef is no longer pink and onions have softened, about 7-8 minutes. Remove from heat and drain any excess fat.
- Assemble Bottom Buns: Place the bottom halves of the slider buns in the prepared baking dish. Spread a thin layer of Big Mac sauce on each bottom bun for extra flavor.
- Add Beef and Cheese: Spoon the cooked beef and onion mixture evenly over the bottom buns. Layer cheese slices on top of the beef, trying to cover each slider evenly to create a creamy, melty layer.
- Add Pickles: Place dill pickle slices over the cheese layer, spacing them so each slider gets 2-3 pickles for that authentic Big Mac tang.
- Bake Initial Layer: Bake the assembled bottom layers for 8-10 minutes to warm the beef and start melting the cheese.
- Add Lettuce and Sauce: Remove the baking dish from the oven and sprinkle shredded lettuce evenly over each slider. Add more Big Mac sauce on top of the lettuce if desired for extra sauciness.
- Top Buns with Butter and Sesame Seeds: Spread the remaining Big Mac sauce on the underside of the top buns. Place the top buns on the sliders. In a small bowl, melt butter and brush it over the tops of the buns. Sprinkle sesame seeds generously to replicate the iconic bun look.
- Bake Complete Sliders: Cover the sliders loosely with aluminum foil and bake for an additional 3-4 minutes to warm through the complete sliders and further melt the cheese, or alternatively, bake for 10 minutes until cheese is fully melted and buns are toasted.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and serve the Big Mac Sliders warm for the best taste and texture.
Notes
- You can prepare the Big Mac sauce a day ahead to enhance its flavor by allowing it to chill in the refrigerator.
- Feel free to customize your sliders with extra toppings like tomato slices or extra pickles if desired.
- Use lean ground beef to reduce grease and keep the sliders healthier.
- To keep sliders warm before serving, cover them with foil and place them in a warm oven (about 200°F) for up to 30 minutes.
- These sliders freeze well; assemble without lettuce and bake before serving. Add fresh lettuce after reheating.
