Ingredients
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons chili crisp
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 egg
Instructions
- Heat the chili crisp: Spoon the chili crisp into the center of a nonstick skillet and heat over medium-low.
- Add sesame oil: Drizzle the sesame oil over the chili crisp and allow it to heat until the oil begins to shimmer or sizzle.
- Create a crater and add the egg: Using a spatula, create a crater in the center of the chili crisp, maintaining the chili crisp in a neat circle. Crack the egg into this crater and let it cook undisturbed.
- Manage egg whites: If the egg whites spread around the pan, gently push them back into the chili crisp circle with a spatula to keep the formation intact.
- Cook to desired yolk doneness: Let the egg cook until the yolk reaches your preferred level of doneness. For a fully cooked yolk, you can flip the egg carefully towards the end. Then transfer the cooked egg from the pan to a plate or place it atop your dish.
Notes
- The egg whites tend to spread into the chili crisp circle, which helps form a flavorful 'pancake' that can be flipped with a flat spatula and fork.
- Flipping the egg is optional and recommended if you prefer a well-cooked yolk.
- You can cook multiple eggs at once as long as they fit comfortably in your skillet.
