This Chocolate Protein Cake is a delicious and nutritious treat combining protein powder, Greek yogurt, and oat flour for a moist, rich dessert or snack perfect for a healthy lifestyle. Easy to make with simple ingredients and baked to perfection, it’s ideal for a quick energy boost or post-workout recovery.

  • Total Time: 30 to 35 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup (120 g) Greek yogurt, nonfat
  • ½ cup (50 g) oat flour or preferred flour
  • ½ cup (50 g) protein powder (preferably unflavored or chocolate flavored)
  • ¼ cup (20 g) cocoa powder
  • ¾ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ to ¾ cup (60 to 180 ml) milk of choice (dairy or plant-based)

Optional

  • Sweetener of choice, to taste (recommended if using unflavored protein powder)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 175ºC (350°F) and line a 20 cm (7.8 inches) cake mold with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy removal.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, beat together 1 egg and ½ cup nonfat Greek yogurt until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  3. Add Dry Ingredients: To the wet mixture, add ½ cup oat flour, ½ cup protein powder, ¼ cup cocoa powder, and ¾ teaspoon baking powder. Stir to combine evenly.
  4. Incorporate Milk: Gradually add ¼ to ¾ cup milk of your choice while mixing, adjusting the amount to achieve a smooth cake batter consistency. The exact amount depends on the protein powder used.
  5. Optional Sweetener: If you are using unflavored protein powder, add sweetener of choice to taste and mix well.
  6. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared cake mold and bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick in the center; it should come out clean.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the cake to cool completely before removing from the mold and serving.

Notes

  • Adjust milk quantity based on the type and brand of protein powder to achieve a smooth batter consistency.
  • Use unflavored or chocolate-flavored protein powder depending on your taste preference.
  • Choose sweetener as per your dietary needs; stevia, honey, or maple syrup work well.
  • The cake mold size is important to ensure even baking; around 20 cm (7.8 inches) diameter is ideal.
  • This cake is a great post-workout snack providing protein and energy without excessive calories.
