Ingredients
Filling
- 6 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 4 tablespoons melted butter, divided
- 2 tablespoons whole milk or half-and-half
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 4 cups chopped cooked chicken
Dough and Topping
- 2 (8-ounce) tubes refrigerated crescent rolls
- 1/2 cup crushed seasoned stuffing (Stovetop or Pepperidge Farm recommended)
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven and prepare baking sheet: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a baking sheet to prevent the bundles from sticking during baking.
- Prepare the creamy chicken filling: In a large bowl, use a hand-held electric mixer or a wooden spoon to blend together the softened cream cheese, 2 tablespoons of melted butter, milk, salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes until smooth and creamy. Stir in the chopped cooked chicken and sliced green onions until well combined.
- Prepare the crescent dough: Unroll the refrigerated crescent roll dough and separate it into 8 rectangles. Gently stretch them a bit to form more of a square shape. Press over the perforations firmly to seal the dough so it doesn't open during baking.
- Assemble the bundles: Evenly divide the chicken mixture among the 8 dough pieces, placing the filling in the center of each piece. Bring the edges of each piece up to the center to form a bundle and press the edges securely to seal.
- Add finishing touches: Place the bundles on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted butter. Sprinkle evenly with the crushed seasoned stuffing mix and grated Parmesan cheese.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the bundles are golden brown and flaky on top.
Notes
- Unbaked bundles can be frozen for up to 2 months. Freeze them individually on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer-safe bag for longer storage.
- To bake from frozen, thaw the bundles overnight in the refrigerator, then bake as directed, adding extra baking time if they are still partially frozen.
