Ingredients
Cucumber Slices
- 1 large English cucumber, sliced 1/4-inch thick (about 48 slices)
Cream Cheese Mixture
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened at room temperature
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill, plus more for garnish
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, finely minced or grated
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more to taste
- Pinch freshly ground black pepper, plus more to taste
Instructions
- Prepare cucumber slices: Slice the English cucumber into 1/4-inch thick rounds and arrange them neatly on a serving platter, creating a base for the canapés.
- Mix cream cheese filling: In a bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, chopped fresh dill, garlic powder, onion powder, 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt, and a pinch of freshly ground black pepper. Mix thoroughly with a fork or use the attachments on a hand mixer for a smooth and even blend.
- Pipe cream cheese onto cucumbers: Transfer the cream cheese mixture into a piping bag fitted with your preferred piping tip (a star tip works well). Carefully pipe the mixture onto each cucumber slice to create attractive swirls or dollops.
- Garnish and serve: Add a small sprig of fresh dill on top of each canapé for garnish. Serve immediately or refrigerate briefly before serving to keep them fresh and crisp.
Notes
- For a vegan alternative, use a dairy-free or vegan cream cheese substitute.
- Make sure the cream cheese is softened well for easier mixing and piping.
- The canapés are best served fresh to maintain cucumber crispness.
