Ingredients
Base Layer
- 14.4 ounce box chocolate graham crackers
Pudding Mixture
- 3 cups milk
- 2 (3.4-ounce) boxes chocolate instant pudding
- 8 ounces whipped topping
Topping
- 16 ounces chocolate frosting
- Chocolate shavings (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Layer the base: Place a single layer of chocolate graham crackers at the bottom of a 9" x 13" baking dish to form the cake's base.
- Prepare pudding: In a medium bowl, combine 3 cups of milk with two boxes of chocolate instant pudding. Whisk thoroughly until the mixture thickens and is fully combined.
- Mix pudding and whipped topping: Gently fold the 8 ounces of whipped topping into the pudding mixture until it becomes smooth and creamy.
- First pudding layer: Pour half of the pudding and whipped topping mixture evenly over the graham cracker base.
- Add second cracker layer: Place another even layer of chocolate graham crackers over the pudding layer.
- Second pudding layer: Spread the remaining pudding mixture evenly over the second graham cracker layer.
- Top with final cracker layer: Add one more layer of chocolate graham crackers on top of the pudding layer.
- Warm the frosting: Transfer the 16 ounces of chocolate frosting into a microwave-safe bowl and heat it in the microwave for one minute until it softens for easier spreading.
- Spread frosting: Carefully spread the warmed chocolate frosting over the top layer of graham crackers, creating a smooth and even finish.
- Chill the cake: Refrigerate the assembled cake for at least four hours to allow the layers to set and flavors to meld together.
- Garnish and serve: Before serving, optionally garnish the cake with chocolate shavings for an elegant touch.
Notes
- For best results, use full-fat milk to achieve a richer pudding texture.
- Allowing the cake to chill longer enhances the flavor and softens the graham crackers.
- Chocolate shavings are optional but add visual appeal and extra chocolate flavor.
- This dessert is best served chilled and within 2-3 days of preparation.
- Substitute whipped topping with homemade whipped cream for a fresher taste.
