This easy baked ravioli lasagna is a delicious shortcut that uses store-bought cheese ravioli instead of traditional lasagna noodles. With layers of marinara sauce, seasoned ground beef, and melted mozzarella cheese, it comes together quickly and bakes to bubbly perfection—a perfect weeknight dinner for the whole family.

  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

Meat and Seasoning

  • 1 pound lean ground beef (90/10)
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

Sauce and Cheese

  • 1 (25 oz) jar marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Pasta

  • 20 oz package refrigerated cheese ravioli (such as Rana 4 Cheese Ravioli)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare it for baking the lasagna.
  2. Cook the ground beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef and Italian seasoning. Cook until the meat is browned and no longer pink, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks for even browning.
  3. Begin layering: In a 9x9-inch baking dish, spread ¼ of the marinara sauce evenly on the bottom to prevent sticking and add moisture.
  4. Add ravioli: Place half of the refrigerated cheese ravioli in a single layer over the sauce.
  5. Add the cooked beef: Spread half of the cooked ground beef evenly over the ravioli layer.
  6. Sprinkle mozzarella: Add ½ cup of shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the beef to create a cheesy layer.
  7. Layer more sauce: Spoon another ¼ of the marinara sauce evenly over the cheese layer.
  8. Repeat layering: Add the remaining ravioli in a single layer, followed by the rest of the cooked ground beef and then pour on the remaining marinara sauce.
  9. Top with cheese: Finish layering by sprinkling the remaining 1½ cups of mozzarella cheese evenly over the top.
  10. Bake the lasagna: Place the assembled dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbly and the cheese is melted and slightly golden.
  11. Rest before serving: Remove from the oven and let the lasagna rest for 5-10 minutes to set before slicing and serving, which helps maintain its structure.

Notes

  • Using frozen ravioli: Increase baking time by 10-15 minutes and cover the dish loosely with foil for the first 25 minutes to prevent over-browning before the ravioli is heated through. Uncover and bake until hot and bubbly.
  • Make it ahead: Assemble the lasagna up to one day in advance. Cover and refrigerate until ready to bake. If baking straight from the fridge, add 5-10 minutes to the bake time.
