- 2 cups ketchup
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar

- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce**
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes (or more to taste)
- 2 medium cloves garlic (minced) (about 2 teaspoons)
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: In a medium-sized saucepan, add the ketchup, brown sugar, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, red pepper flakes, and minced garlic. Stir well to mix all ingredients evenly.
- Simmer the Sauce: Place the saucepan over medium-low heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Allow it to continue simmering for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking and to meld the flavors.
- Cool and Store: Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the barbecue sauce cool completely. Once cooled, transfer it into an airtight container and refrigerate. The sauce will keep well for up to one week.
Notes
- For gluten-free option, use tamari or a gluten-free soy sauce alternative.
- Adjust red pepper flakes according to your preferred spice level.
- Worcestershire sauce contains anchovies; substitute with vegan Worcestershire sauce to make it vegetarian or vegan.
- Shake or stir the sauce before each use as some ingredients may settle.
