Ingredients
Hot Fudge Sauce Ingredients
- 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (or 6 oz chopped dark chocolate, NOT milk chocolate chips)
- 4 Tbsp salted butter (cut into tablespoons)
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: Place the sweetened condensed milk, semi-sweet chocolate chips (or chopped dark chocolate), and salted butter into a medium saucepan.
- Heat and Stir: Cook the mixture over medium-low heat, stirring constantly to prevent burning, until the chocolate and butter are completely melted and the sauce is smooth and glossy.
- Add Vanilla: Turn off the heat and stir in the vanilla extract until fully combined, enhancing the flavor of the fudge sauce.
- Serve or Cool: Drizzle the hot fudge sauce immediately over ice cream or desserts for a warm topping. If you prefer a thicker texture, allow the sauce to cool slightly; it will continue to thicken as it cools.
Notes
- Constant stirring is essential to prevent the chocolate and condensed milk from scorching.
- Use good quality semi-sweet or dark chocolate for the best flavor.
- You can store leftover hot fudge sauce in the refrigerator and gently reheat before serving.
- Let the sauce cool to a slightly warm temperature for a thicker consistency.
