  • Total Time: 12 hours 15 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

Key Lime with Chocolate Graham Cracker

  • 5 ounces Greek key lime yogurt
  • 1 large ripe banana with brown speckles, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 1/4 cup chocolate graham cracker cookies, crushed

Coconut with Walnuts

  • 5 ounces Greek coconut yogurt
  • 1 large ripe banana with brown speckles, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 1/4 cup shredded coconut
  • 2 tablespoons walnut pieces

Raspberry with Chia Seeds

  • 5 ounces Greek raspberry yogurt
  • 1 large ripe banana with brown speckles, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 1-2 tablespoons chia seeds

Vanilla with Bran Flakes

  • 5 ounces Greek vanilla bean yogurt
  • 1 large ripe banana with brown speckles, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 1/4 cup bran flakes, crushed

Equipment

  • Tray or plate
  • Parchment paper
  • Fork
  • Plastic wrap
  • Plastic baggie (for crushing toppings)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the tray: Line a tray or plate with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Slice bananas: Peel and slice the ripe banana into 1/2-inch thick pieces. Prepare one large banana per flavor variation.
  3. Dip banana slices in yogurt: For each flavor, place a few banana slices into the corresponding Greek yogurt cup. Use a fork to cover the slices completely with yogurt.
  4. Plate the banana bites: Lift the yogurt-covered banana slices out with the fork and place them onto the parchment-lined tray.
  5. Prepare toppings: For key lime variation, crush chocolate graham crackers in a plastic baggie and sprinkle over banana bites. For coconut, sprinkle shredded coconut and walnut pieces (breaking large walnut pieces if necessary). For raspberry, sprinkle chia seeds on top. For vanilla, crush bran flakes in a baggie and sprinkle over the banana bites.
  6. Freeze: Cover the tray or plate tightly with plastic wrap and place in the freezer. Freeze for at least 12 hours to ensure the banana bites are fully frozen through. Although best frozen 24 hours, they can be enjoyed sooner if solid frozen in the center.
  7. Serve: Remove from freezer and enjoy immediately as a cool snack or treat.

Notes

  • Use ripe bananas with brown speckles for the best natural sweetness and texture.
  • Ensure toppings are crushed into small pieces to stick well on the yogurt-coated banana slices.
  • You can mix and match yogurt flavors and toppings according to your preference.
  • Store leftover frozen banana bites in an airtight container with parchment layers to prevent sticking.
  • Allow the frozen bites to soften for a few minutes at room temperature before eating for easier biting.
  • This recipe is kid-friendly and perfect for making together with children.
