Ingredients
Crust
- 1 (13-ounce) package golden Oreos (about 36 cookies, not double stuffed)
Filling
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- Red food coloring, about ½ teaspoon or to achieve rich red color
Coating and Decoration
- 3 cups light green candy melts
- Large red heart sprinkles, for decorating
Instructions
- Pulse Oreos: Add the golden Oreos to a large food processor and pulse until you achieve fine crumbs, about the consistency of sand.
- Combine with cream cheese and color: Transfer the Oreo crumbs to a bowl, add the softened cream cheese, and mix until fully combined. Add about ½ teaspoon of red food coloring, mixing well. Add a few more drops if needed to reach a rich red hue.
- Roll into balls: Use a medium cookie scoop to portion out 1 ½-inch balls from the mixture. Roll them between your palms to form smooth balls. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover with plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for about 1 hour to firm up.
- Melt candy melts: Place the light green candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second increments at 50% power, stirring thoroughly between each interval until smooth and fully melted.
- Dip the balls: Using a fork, dip each chilled ball into the melted candy, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place the coated ball onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. While the coating is still wet, decorate each with a large red heart sprinkle.
- Chill again: Refrigerate the dipped and decorated Oreo balls for at least 1 hour to let the coating set completely before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easy mixing.
- Do not use double stuffed Oreos as they can make the mixture too soft.
- You can substitute candy melts with white chocolate colored green using food coloring if unavailable.
- Store finished Oreo balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- For best results, allow candy melts to cool slightly if they become too runny before dipping.
