This Homemade Frozen Yogurt recipe is a simple and creamy treat made with full-fat Greek yogurt, heavy cream, and sugar. It's easy to prepare with an ice cream maker or using a no-churn method with frozen yogurt cubes blended until smooth. Enjoy it with your favorite toppings like fresh fruit, sprinkles, or cookie dough for a refreshing and customizable dessert.

  • Total Time: 2 hours 10 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

Frozen Yogurt Base

  • 32 ounce container (3 ¾ cups) full fat Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix Ingredients: Whisk together the Greek yogurt, heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract (if using) vigorously until the sugar has completely dissolved. You can test by rubbing a small amount between your fingers for grittiness and tasting to ensure it’s smooth and sweetened well.
  2. Freeze Using Ice Cream Maker: Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and freeze according to the manufacturer's instructions. This usually takes about 2 to 3 hours to reach a scoopable consistency.
  3. No-Churn Method: Alternatively, pour the yogurt mixture into silicon ice cube trays and freeze for 3 hours. Once frozen, pop out the cubes and blend them in a food processor until smooth. Add a splash of heavy cream if needed to help blend. If frozen overnight, let the cubes soften at room temperature for about 20 minutes before blending.
  4. Add Toppings and Serve: Serve your homemade frozen yogurt with toppings of your choice such as sprinkles, fresh strawberries or raspberries, strawberry compote, or edible cookie dough for extra flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use full-fat Greek yogurt for a creamy texture and richer flavor.
  • Adjust the sugar amount to your preferred sweetness.
  • The no-churn method is great if you don't have an ice cream maker.
  • If using the ice cream maker, make sure to follow the specific freezing times suggested in your machine’s manual.
  • Store leftover frozen yogurt in the freezer in an airtight container for up to 1 week for best texture.
