The combination of Dijon mustard, honey, lemon juice, and spices creates a flavorful glaze that enhances the natural richness of the salmon, making it a simple yet elegant dish for any occasion.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Salmon

  • 4 salmon fillets, boneless, skinless or skin-on (6-8 ounces each)
  • Olive oil for brushing on the grill
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

Marinade

  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the salmon: Place the salmon fillets in a large shallow bowl to prepare for marinating.
  2. Make the marinade: In a small bowl, whisk together sea salt, ground black pepper, honey, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, paprika, cayenne pepper, and minced garlic until well combined.
  3. Coat the salmon: Pour the marinade over the salmon fillets, then flip them carefully using tongs to coat each piece thoroughly with the marinade.
  4. Marinate: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes to allow the salmon to absorb the flavors.
  5. Preheat the grill: Heat the grill to between 450°F and 500°F. Brush the grill grates with olive oil to prevent sticking.
  6. Grill the salmon: Place the salmon fillets on the grill skin side down. Optionally brush additional marinade on top. Grill for 6-7 minutes with the lid closed, then carefully flip and grill the other side for 2-3 minutes with the lid closed until the internal temperature reaches 125°F to 130°F.
  7. Rest and serve: Remove the salmon from the grill and allow it to rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • If you have leftovers or make a larger batch, let the salmon cool completely, then store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days.
  • The cayenne pepper is optional and can be adjusted based on your preferred spice level.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature for perfectly cooked salmon.
  • Brush the grill grates well with oil to prevent the delicate salmon fillets from sticking or breaking apart.
