Refreshing and authentic Agua Frescas made with fresh pineapple, watermelon, or mango, combined with lime and a touch of sugar. Perfect for picnics, BBQs, and hot summer days, these naturally hydrating beverages cool and delight with the fresh flavors of Mexico.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: Approximately 4 cups (32 ounces) per batch

Ingredients

Pineapple Agua Fresca

  • 4 cups cubed fresh pineapple
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 limes, juiced
  • 2 sprigs fresh mint (optional, for serving)
  • 4 cups water

Watermelon Agua Fresca

  • 4 cups cubed watermelon
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 limes, juiced
  • 2 sprigs fresh mint (optional, for serving)
  • 3 cups water

Mango Agua Fresca

  • 2 cups cubed mango
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 limes, juiced
  • 2 sprigs fresh mint (optional, for serving)
  • 4 cups water

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In the base of a blender, add the selected fruit (pineapple, watermelon, or mango), water (4 cups for pineapple and mango; 3 cups for watermelon), and sugar.
  2. Blend Mixture: Blend on high until the fruit is fully combined and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Strain Liquid: Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher to remove pulp and seeds, obtaining a smooth, refreshing juice.
  4. Add Lime and Mint: Stir in the freshly squeezed lime juice and add fresh mint sprigs if desired for an extra refreshing touch.
  5. Serve: Pour the agua fresca over ice and garnish with additional mint or lime wedges for presentation. Enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • The sweetness of the fruit can vary, so feel free to adjust sugar to taste.
  • To sweeten after blending, dissolve ¼ cup sugar in ¼ cup hot water, let cool, then stir in the desired amount.
  • This recipe yields approximately 32 ounces of agua fresca per batch.
  • Mint is optional but adds a fresh aromatic note to the drink.
  • Keep refrigerated if not serving immediately and consume within 2 days for best freshness.
