Ingredients
Meatballs
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
- 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg (lightly beaten)
- 4 cloves garlic (grated)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
For Serving
- Marinara Sauce (quantity as desired)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400º F (200º C) to prepare for baking the meatballs.
- Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, thoroughly combine the ground chicken, Italian bread crumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, beaten egg, grated garlic, Italian seasoning, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes to create the meatball mixture.
- Shape Meatballs: Form the mixture into golf-ball sized meatballs and evenly place them on a baking sheet, ensuring enough space to cook evenly.
- Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the meatballs for 12 minutes until cooked through and lightly browned.
- Warm with Sauce: Transfer the baked meatballs into a crockpot or large pot, add marinara sauce, and heat gently to keep warm and allow flavors to meld.
- Serve: Keep the meatballs on warm in the crockpot until ready to serve. Enjoy them alone or over pasta.
Notes
- Ensure the meatballs are evenly sized for uniform cooking.
- Using fresh garlic adds more flavor but pre-minced works as well.
- Adjust red pepper flakes to your preferred spice level.
- Baking instead of frying makes this a healthier alternative.
- Marinara sauce quantity can be customized based on your preference.
- For extra moisture, consider adding 1-2 tablespoons of milk or olive oil to the meatball mixture.
