Ingredients
Crust
- 15.35 ounce Double Stuff Oreo Cookies
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
Cream Cheese Layer
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 8 ounce tub Cool Whip
Pudding Layer
- 5.1 ounce box instant chocolate pudding
- 3 cups milk
Topping
- 8 ounce tub Cool Whip
- Reserved Oreo crumbs (about ½ cup)
Instructions
- Make the Crust: Place the Oreo cookies in a large ziplock bag and crush them with a rolling pin or mallet until small crumbs remain with some chunkiness. Set aside ½ cup of these crumbs for the topping. Transfer the remaining crumbs to a 9x13-inch pan and use a fork to slightly mash them. Pour melted butter over and combine thoroughly so all crumbs are moistened, then press into an even layer on the pan bottom. Refrigerate this crust while preparing the next layer.
- Make the Cream Cheese Layer: Beat the cream cheese in a mixing bowl on medium speed for about 3 minutes until light and fluffy. Lower speed to medium-low and gradually add the powdered sugar until fully incorporated. Increase speed to medium again and beat for 30 seconds. Gently fold in the 8-ounce tub of Cool Whip using a rubber spatula. Spread this mixture evenly over the chilled crust and refrigerate while you prepare the pudding layer.
- Make the Pudding Layer: In a large bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and milk vigorously for 2 minutes until smooth. Let the pudding set by sitting for 5 minutes. Spread the pudding evenly over the cream cheese layer using an offset spatula.
- Assemble and Chill: Spread the remaining 8-ounce tub of Cool Whip evenly over the pudding layer. Sprinkle the reserved Oreo crumbs on top to garnish. Cover the pan and refrigerate the entire dessert for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, before serving to allow all layers to set and flavors to meld.
Notes
- For best results, chill the dessert overnight to allow layers to fully set and flavors to blend.
- Use regular or double stuffed Oreos depending on desired richness in the crust.
- The pudding layer can be substituted with any instant pudding flavor you prefer for variation.
- Ensure cream cheese is at room temperature for easier beating and smoother texture.
- This dessert keeps well covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
