This Nutella Banana Bread recipe combines the rich, creamy hazelnut spread with moist, ripe bananas to create a deliciously swirl-textured quick bread. Perfect for breakfast or a sweet snack, this loaf features a tender crumb with pockets of Nutella throughout, making it an irresistible treat for Nutella and banana lovers alike.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings

Ingredients

Banana Bread Batter

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups mashed ripe bananas (about 4-5 medium bananas)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda

Nutella Swirl

  • ½ cup Nutella

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a loaf pan with parchment paper to ensure easy removal after baking.
  2. Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, stir together the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and melted butter until well combined. Mix in the eggs, vanilla extract, and mashed bananas, stirring thoroughly until smooth.
  3. Add dry ingredients: Gradually stir in the all-purpose flour, salt, and baking soda just until the flour disappears into the batter. The batter will be thick, so avoid overmixing to maintain moisture.
  4. Pour half the batter: Transfer half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top evenly to create a flat surface.
  5. Prepare Nutella swirl: Microwave the Nutella for 20-25 seconds until softened but not melted. Dollop half of the Nutella evenly over the batter and use a knife to gently swirl it into the batter, creating a marbled effect.
  6. Add remaining batter and Nutella: Pour the remaining batter over the first layer in the loaf pan. Repeat the process by dolloping the rest of the Nutella on top and swirling it into the batter the same way as before.
  7. Bake the bread: Place the loaf in the preheated oven and bake for 50-55 minutes. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick or cake tester into the center; it should come out with only a few moist crumbs attached.
  8. Cool: Let the bread cool in the pan for about 15 minutes to set, then transfer it onto a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and natural sweetness.
  • If you don’t have a microwave, soften the Nutella by warming it gently over a double boiler.
  • For easier slicing, chill the banana bread before cutting.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for longer freshness.
  • You can add chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans to the batter for extra texture.
