A refreshing and tangy Paloma cocktail made with blanco tequila, fresh lime juice, and grapefruit soda, served over ice with a salted rim and garnished with a grapefruit wedge. Perfect for a quick and vibrant single-serving drink.

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces blanco tequila
  • 1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 3 1/2 ounces grapefruit soda (such as Squirt)
  • Ice cubes
  • Margarita salt (for rim)
  • Lime wedge (for rimming glass)
  • Grapefruit wedge (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Glass Rim: Cut the lime in half and squeeze out the juice, reserving it for the cocktail. Rub the lime juice along the edge of a rock glass to moisten the rim.
  2. Salt the Rim: Dip the moistened rim of the glass into margarita salt to coat it evenly. This adds a salty contrast to the drink's sweetness.
  3. Add Ice: Fill the glass about three-quarters full with ice cubes to chill the drink and keep it refreshing.
  4. Add Tequila and Lime Juice: Pour 2 ounces of blanco tequila and 1/2 ounce of freshly squeezed lime juice over the ice in the glass.
  5. Top with Grapefruit Soda: Pour 3 1/2 ounces of grapefruit soda into the glass to fill it, blending the citrus flavors with the tequila.
  6. Stir the Drink: Use a cocktail stirrer to gently mix the ingredients together with a turn or two, ensuring a well-balanced flavor without losing carbonation.
  7. Garnish: Add a wedge of grapefruit on the rim or inside the glass to enhance the presentation and aroma of the cocktail.

Notes

  • Use freshly squeezed lime juice for the best flavor.
  • Grapefruit soda like Squirt adds sweetness and a slight tang; alternatively, fresh grapefruit juice with club soda can be used.
  • Adjust the amount of salt on the rim according to your taste.
  • Serve immediately for optimal freshness and carbonation.
  • This cocktail is traditionally served in a rock glass over ice.
