Ingredients
Peach and Lemon Mixture
- 3 ripe peaches, pitted and coarsely chopped
- 1 scant cup brown sugar (not packed)
- 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice
Additional Ingredients
- 4 cups water
- Crushed ice for serving
Instructions
- Blend Ingredients: In a blender, combine the coarsely chopped peaches (including skin), brown sugar, ground cardamom, and fresh lemon juice. Blend until you achieve a smooth, smoothie-like consistency.
- Strain Mixture: Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer set over a medium bowl. Use a spoon or spatula to press and extract as much liquid as possible, leaving behind some peach skin and pulp. Discard the solids remaining in the strainer.
- Mix with Water: Transfer the strained peach and lemon juice mixture into a pitcher. Add 4 cups of water and stir well. Taste the lemonade and adjust the sweetness or tartness by adding more sugar or lemon juice if desired.
- Serve: Pour the lemonade over a glass filled with crushed or cubed ice. Serve chilled and enjoy the refreshing blend of peach, lemon, and cardamom flavors.
Notes
- The amount of cardamom can be adjusted according to your spice preference; start with 1/4 teaspoon for a subtle flavor.
- Using ripe peaches ensures maximum sweetness and flavor.
- For a smoother lemonade, you can strain the mixture twice.
- This lemonade is best served immediately but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- To make it fizzy, add sparkling water instead of still water.
