A luscious peach syrup perfect for enhancing cocktails, sweet teas, and various desserts. This homemade syrup combines fresh peaches with sugar and water, simmered to bring out a rich, sweet peach flavor that's easy to strain and store for versatile use.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings

Ingredients

Peach Syrup Ingredients

  • 3 medium peaches (about 8 - 10 ounces or 225 - 285 grams), washed, pitted, and quartered
  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ½ cup water

Instructions

  1. Simmer: Combine the peaches, sugar, and water in a medium saucepan. Place the mixture over medium-high heat and stir occasionally. Bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer and continue cooking for 3 to 5 minutes. While simmering, gently break up the peaches with a wooden spoon to release their juices.
  2. Strain: Allow the syrup to cool enough to handle safely. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth. Press and squeeze the peaches through the cheesecloth to extract as much syrup as possible. Use the syrup immediately or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer. To thicken, see the notes below.

Notes

  • To thicken the syrup, return it to the pot and simmer until it reaches your desired consistency.
  • Store the syrup in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.
  • This syrup works wonderfully in cocktails, iced teas, lemonades, and drizzled over pancakes or desserts.
