4.1 from 4 reviews

A refreshing and vibrant homemade pink lemonade recipe featuring freshly squeezed lemon juice, sweet simple syrup, and muddled strawberries for a natural pink hue and fruity flavor. Perfect for a cool summer drink or anytime you want a delightful citrus treat.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

For the Pink Lemonade

  • 1 cup lemon juice (from 4-5 large lemons)
  • 1 cup simple syrup
  • 3 cups water
  • 7 oz strawberries (about 1 cup, alternatively use raspberries, cranberries, or pomegranate seeds)

For the Simple Syrup (if not pre-made)

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Prepare Simple Syrup: If you do not have simple syrup ready, combine equal parts sugar and water (1/2 cup each) in a pan and heat gently, stirring until sugar dissolves completely. Allow the syrup to cool before using. It can be stored in the fridge for several weeks.
  2. Juice the Lemons: Use a citrus juicer to extract the juice from 4-5 large lemons to yield approximately 1 cup of fresh lemon juice.
  3. Muddle the Berries: In a small bowl or jar, mash the strawberries thoroughly to release their juice and flavor. Optionally, strain the mixture to remove seeds and pulp if a smoother beverage is desired, but using the whole muddled fruit enhances texture and taste.
  4. Combine Ingredients: In a large jug, mix together the lemon juice, simple syrup, muddled strawberries, and 3 cups of water. Stir well to blend. Taste the lemonade and adjust by adding more water or simple syrup if you prefer it less or more sweet.
  5. Serve and Garnish: Pour the pink lemonade over ice and garnish with fresh mint leaves and lemon slices for a beautiful presentation and added aroma.
  6. Store Leftovers: Store any leftover lemonade in a covered container in the refrigerator for 4-5 days. Stir well before serving again.

Notes

  • Simple syrup should be prepared in advance and cooled before use to avoid warming the lemonade.
  • You can substitute strawberries with other berries like raspberries, cranberries, or pomegranate seeds for different flavors and natural coloring.
  • Muddling the berries instead of juicing them retains fiber and texture in the drink.
  • Adjust sweetness and tartness to your preference by varying the amount of simple syrup and water.
  • Serve chilled with ice and garnish to enhance appearance and flavor.
