Ingredients
Dough
- 3 cans Crescent Roll Dough (each can contains 8 crescent rolls)
Cheese Filling
- 8 ounces Gruyere Cheese, shredded
- 4 ounces Parmesan Cheese, shredded
Garlic Herb Butter
- 4 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- ¼ teaspoon Fresh Parsley, dried
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Other
- Favorite dipping sauce, to fill the ramekin
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it is at the right temperature for baking the bread wreath evenly.
- Prepare Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place a large oven-safe ramekin in the center. The ramekin will serve as the centerpiece around which the dough is arranged.
- Mix Cheeses: In a large bowl, combine the shredded Gruyere and Parmesan cheeses thoroughly to ensure even distribution of flavor in each dough piece.
- Cut Dough Circles: Open one can of crescent roll dough and unroll it on a clean surface. Using a 2-½ inch cookie cutter, cut circles out of the dough.
- Assemble Dough with Cheese: Place a portion of the mixed cheese in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough around the cheese to encase it, then place each filled dough piece seam side down on the parchment-lined baking sheet around the ramekin, forming a full circle. Repeat this step with all cans of dough and cheese until the wreath is complete and evenly shaped.
- Bake Wreath: Bake the assembled bread wreath in the preheated oven for 16-18 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
- Prepare Garlic Herb Butter: While the bread bakes, melt the unsalted butter in a small microwave-safe dish. Stir in the minced garlic, dried parsley, salt, and pepper to create the garlic herb butter.
- Brush Bread: Once the bread wreath is out of the oven, immediately brush the garlic herb butter generously over the entire surface of the wreath to enhance flavor and add moisture.
- Add Dipping Sauce: Fill the center ramekin with your favorite dipping sauce such as marinara, ranch, or garlic butter to complete this irresistible appetizer.
Notes
- Use a sharp cookie cutter for clean dough circles and ease of folding around the cheese.
- Ensure the dough pieces are sealed well to prevent cheese from leaking during baking.
- The ramekin center not only helps shape the wreath but creates a lovely presentation space for dipping sauce.
- This recipe can be made ahead and baked just before serving for convenience.
- Substitute cheeses as desired, but Gruyere and Parmesan provide ideal melt and flavor balance.
- Serve warm for best texture and taste.
