Ingredients
Egg Mixture
- 1 teaspoon butter
- 5 eggs
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ¼ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- ¼ teaspoon pepper (or to taste)
Rolls
- 8 Pillsbury crescent rolls (1 can)
- 2 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
- 8 fully cooked turkey breakfast sausages
- 1 egg (beaten for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375℉ (190℃). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a Silpat to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
- Prepare Scrambled Eggs: In a bowl, beat the 5 eggs until blended. Heat the butter in a nonstick skillet over medium heat until hot. Pour in the beaten eggs and gently pull the eggs across the pan using a spatula as they begin to set, forming large soft curds. Continue folding and stirring gently until the eggs are thickened and no liquid remains. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Roll Out Dough: Sprinkle the all-purpose flour onto your work surface to prevent sticking. Unroll the crescent dough over the floured surface and roll it out gently with a rolling pin as needed. Pinch the seams if necessary, then cut the dough into 8 rectangles.
- Assemble Rolls: On each rectangle, spoon a couple of heaping spoonfuls of scrambled eggs, sprinkle some shredded cheddar cheese, and place one fully cooked turkey breakfast sausage.
- Form Rolls: Carefully roll up each rectangle over the filling and place seam-side down onto the prepared baking sheet. Repeat for all 8 rolls.
- Apply Egg Wash and Season: Brush each roll generously with the beaten egg wash to achieve a golden finish. Sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper on top of each roll for seasoning.
- Bake: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are puffed and golden brown.
Notes
- You can substitute crescent roll dough with puff pastry dough for a different texture.
- These breakfast rolls freeze well; reheat in a 400℉ oven for 10-15 minutes until warmed through.
- Feel free to use any type of breakfast sausage according to your preference.
