Ingredients
Silken Tofu
- 1 (16-ounce) packet silken tofu
Sauce
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons Chinese sesame sauce (or tahini as a substitute)
Garnish
- 1 scallion, trimmed and thinly sliced
- 2 teaspoons toasted or untoasted sesame seeds
Instructions
- Prepare the tofu: Drain the tofu carefully and remove it from its packaging. Place it gently on a large plate and slice into 1/2-inch slabs widthwise. Using the palm of your hands, gently push the sliced tofu sideways to fan it out on the plate without breaking it.
- Garnish with toppings and serve: Drizzle the soy sauce and Chinese sesame sauce over the fanned tofu. Sprinkle the thinly sliced scallions and sesame seeds evenly on top. Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
- Storage and reheating: Cover any leftovers tightly and refrigerate for up to 2 days. You can enjoy the dish cold straight from the fridge or warm it by microwaving in 30-second increments until heated through.
Notes
- If Chinese sesame sauce is unavailable, tahini is an excellent substitute.
- Handle silken tofu gently to maintain its delicate texture.
- Toasted sesame seeds add extra flavor, but untoasted can be used as well.
- Reheat gently in the microwave to avoid breaking the tofu.
