Ingredients
Chicken
- 1-2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breast
Seasonings & Add-Ins
- Sea salt, to taste
- Ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil (optional)
- 2 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken: Place the boneless skinless chicken breasts inside the slow cooker. Season both sides liberally with sea salt and ground black pepper to enhance flavor.
- Add Optional Ingredients: If using, drizzle olive oil and apple cider vinegar over the chicken. These add moisture and a slight tang to the meat.
- Cook the Chicken: Set your slow cooker to cook on low for 3 to 4 hours, or on high for about 2 hours. This slow cooking gently tenderizes the chicken, ensuring it remains juicy.
- Check for Doneness: Verify the chicken is fully cooked by checking that the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) with a meat thermometer. Alternatively, ensure the chicken meat is white throughout and easily pulls apart.
- Shred the Chicken: Transfer the cooked chicken breasts to a plate. Using two forks or a meat shredder, shred the meat finely or to your preferred size. Your shredded chicken is now ready to be used in your favorite recipes.
Notes
- Cooking times may vary depending on your slow cooker model and chicken breast size.
- Use fresh chicken breasts for best flavor and texture.
- You can customize seasoning by adding garlic powder, smoked paprika, or herbs if desired.
- This shredded chicken is perfect for tacos, salads, sandwiches, or casseroles.
- Leftover shredded chicken can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
