Ingredients
Baguette and Toppings
- 12 slices of baguette (about 1/2-inch thick)
- 1-2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 oz smoked salmon (thinly sliced)
- 2-3 tbsp caviar (use your preferred type)
- Extra sprigs of fresh dill for garnish
Cream Cheese Spread
- 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1 tbsp fresh dill (finely chopped)
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Crostini: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet. Lightly brush one side of each slice with olive oil to ensure a golden crisp surface. Toast them in the oven until they are golden brown and crisp, about 10 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely.
- Prepare the Cream Cheese Spread: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, finely chopped dill, lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and well blended. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed for a balanced flavor.
- Assemble the Crostini: Spread a generous amount of the dill cream cheese mixture onto the toasted side of each crostini. Top each with a slice of smoked salmon, followed by a small dollop of caviar placed in the center. Garnish with a tiny sprig of fresh dill for added aroma and presentation.
- Serve and Enjoy: Arrange the assembled crostini on a serving platter to create an inviting appetizer display. Serve immediately so guests can enjoy the contrast between the crispy crostini and the smooth, flavorful toppings. Enjoy the delicate and luxurious bite!
Notes
- Use good quality smoked salmon for best flavor.
- For crispier crostini, make sure the baguette slices are evenly sliced and brushed with olive oil.
- You can substitute cream cheese with a dairy-free alternative for a lactose-free option.
- Choose your preferred type of caviar based on taste and budget; salmon roe works well as a cost-effective option.
- Prepare crostini shortly before serving to maintain crispness.
