Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 1 slice sourdough bread
- 1/4 cup low-fat cottage cheese (such as Good Culture)
- 2 tbsp Rao’s Marinara sauce, warmed
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1-2 tbsp sun-dried tomatoes
- 1 tsp sun-dried tomato oil
- 1-2 tsp hot honey
- Italian seasoning, to taste
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
Instructions
- Toast the Bread: Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Place the sourdough slice in the skillet and toast it until it becomes golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Assemble the Toast: Spread 2 tablespoons of warm Rao’s Marinara sauce evenly over the toasted bread. Then, layer 1/4 cup of cottage cheese on top of the marinara, spreading it gently and evenly.
- Add the Toppings: Drizzle an additional 2 tablespoons of Rao’s Marinara sauce over the cottage cheese. Scatter 1-2 tablespoons of sun-dried tomatoes atop and drizzle 1 teaspoon of sun-dried tomato oil over the toast to enhance the flavor.
- Season & Finish: Sprinkle the toast with Italian seasoning, salt, and freshly ground black pepper according to your taste. Drizzle 1-2 teaspoons of hot honey over the top for a sweet and spicy kick. Finally, garnish with fresh basil leaves for a burst of freshness and aroma.
Notes
- Bread choice: If you don’t like sourdough, substitute with whole wheat, multigrain, or gluten-free bread options.
- Cottage cheese: Low-fat cottage cheese is recommended, but full-fat can be used for richer flavor and creaminess.
- Hot honey substitute: If you cannot find hot honey, mix regular honey with a pinch of red pepper flakes or chili flakes to create a similar spicy sweetness.
- Dairy-free option: Replace cottage cheese with cashew cream for a dairy-free variation, inspired by farm fresh chicken feta pizza recipes.
