This refreshing Watermelon Lemonade recipe combines the tangy zest of fresh lemons with the sweet, juicy flavor of watermelon. Perfectly balanced with a touch of sugar and chilled water, this homemade lemonade is an ideal summer drink to cool you down quickly and deliciously.

  • Total Time: 5 mins
  • Yield: 5 cups lemonade (4 servings)

Ingredients

Fruits

  • 2 thin-skinned lemons (3 to 3 1/2 ounces each), washed, quartered, and seeded
  • 4 cups seedless watermelon, rind removed and cubed

Other Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 cups cold water, divided
  • Ice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Wash, trim, and seed lemons: Wash the lemons thoroughly to remove any dirt or wax. Trim the hard stem end. Cut each lemon into quarters and carefully remove the seeds. If the lemon skin is thick or the blossom end is nubby, trim it to reduce bitterness.
  2. Add ingredients into blender: Place the prepared lemon quarters, watermelon cubes, sugar, and 1 cup of cold water into the blender carafe.
  3. Blend lemonade: Blend the mixture on high speed for about 30 seconds until smooth and fully combined.
  4. Strain the lemonade: Pour the blended mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher. Use a silicone spatula to press the pulp against the sieve to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the remaining pulp if desired.
  5. Add the water and serve: Add the remaining 1 cup of cold water to the strained juice and stir well to combine. Serve the lemonade over ice for a refreshing drink.

Notes

  • For a less sweet version, reduce the sugar quantity according to your taste.
  • To make it more refreshing, chill the watermelon and lemons before preparing.
  • You can substitute sugar with honey or a sugar substitute if preferred.
  • For an adult twist, add a splash of vodka or gin.
  • Leftover lemonade can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
